bought 1965 wagoneer 230 3.8L 4x4, is engine worth rebuilding?

this vehicle is a 1965 and  67000 miles on it.  Sat for many years, we got it to turn over recently but it has a loud knocking like the top end isn't getting oil.....is this engine worth rebuilding? it not what would a good bolt up option be?
